Does Integration for DocuSign eSignature Use Basic Authentication?

I received a notice from DocuSign today stating that they are deprecating Basic Authentication methods in Sept 2022. Does this impact those of us who use the  Integration for DocuSign eSignature module, notably those who leverage the Send on Behalf Of feature?

More info: https://www.docusign.com/blog/developers/september-2022-oauth2-required

Just trying to be proactive! Thanks!

Hi @Erika Smith,

Customers, like you, need to use/update what DocuSign refers to as an “app password”.  We will be updating our MRG documentation to reflect this in the next release.

You can continue to use our legacy SOAP based integration by updating the basic authentication password in our system (OnBase) to match the DocuSign “app password”.

This is how you implement App Password usage:

  • End users will login to DocuSign with the credentials they have in OnBase config – Document > Hosted Signing > DocuSign
  • Then, follow the instructions here to generate the App Password. https://developers.docusign.com/docs/esign-soap-api/esign101/auth/app-password-authentication/
  • Once the App Password is generated they will replace the current password in OnBase Config – Document > Hosted Signing > DocuSign with the new App Password (Note: login email and Account ID will remain the same).

The deadline for everyone to implement this change is currently October to conform with the enforcement schedule noted here: App Password required for new SOAP integrations.

Thanks for asking in our Community!

Do we know if this new App Password will need to be changed on DocuSign's site every X days?  Or once it is set, it will stay until manually updated?

Hi @Angie Dickinson,

Looking through the App Password documentation, we couldn’t find anything about rotating passwords. So you shouldn’t be forced to rotate passwords. For further confirmation we recommend contacting DocuSign.

Thanks!

Alan, will all users utilizing DocuSign Integration inside of OnBase need to generate an App Password or does this only apply the account that is set inside of OnBase Config – Document > Hosted Signing > DocuSign->Login Email/Password when Enable Send on Behalf Of is set?  Will there be any disruption in service when making these changes?
