We currently run OnBase v10 on a physical server...(we're upgrading to v11 in the next few weeks)

That server hosts AppEnabler, the OnBase web server and DDS.

That server is a single point of failure in our environment.

We'd like to buld in some disaster recovery into our implementation by P2V-ing the server and having it on stanby in case of a failure.

I've read a brief paragraph in the SysAdmin MRG about VMWare but mainly wanted to know if VM is fully supported for all modules and OnBase technologies.

So the question: Can anyone say if the OnBase applications and all modules are fully support in a VMware environment...We run VSphere 4.1.

Also if there is another recommendation for high availablity and DR for an OnBase app server I'd like to hear about that as well.

Thanks for your question!  Yes, OnBase is supported in a virtual environment as per our Virtualization Support Statement located in each MRG.  We have many customers that are successfully running OnBase in a virtual environment.  Due to the potentially complex and impactful nature of moving to an environment where resources are shared, it is Hyland's recommendation that you have someone on staff who fully understands virtualization and test thoroughly before going into production (just like anything, really).  It is only when there are performance issues involved that we occasionally need to extract the virtual layer from equation to facilitate a quick resolution.
