Auto Name Configuration delimiter

Is it possible to change the delimiter in the Auto Name string to something other than a dash?

Our users have a dash in some of their keywords, and this causes problems in List Reports exported to Excel, since the data-to-column wizard can't perform correctly with the dash used for a delimiter as well.

There is no requirement built into OnBase for what characters are used in the auto-name string to separate keyword values. The configuration can be changed by going to Document --> Document Types --> Auto-name in Configuration. Change the dashes to whatever character would be better suited and click the Save button to save the change The Preview Auto-Name button can be used to see what the new auto-name string will look like.

The change will be for all documents going forward. The application server application pool would need to be restarted for the change to take effect in core-based applications. If you want existing documents to be updated with the new format, the checkbox Rename all Documents of This Document Type can be enabled before clicking save. When Save is clicked it will cause OnBase to update the auto-name string for all existing documents. The process may take some time depending on how many documents are in the document type. A best practice is to update existing documents after normal business hours because it can be a database intensive process.

The system administration module reference guide fully outlines all the options on the auto-name string configuration screen.
