Month and Year as Keyword

We are expanding into a new department and one of the doc types to be created is for publications.  The users have requested one field (Publication Date) that displays only the month and year.

Does anyone know of a way to mask a field so that only displays Month/Year?

I suggested two fields with drop downs one for Month and one for Year but that idea was not liked.  FYI - this is for the CEO's office so the onus is on us to make them happy.

Thanks.

Daniel

Sure,

Pretty simple really.

  1. Make an alphanumeric keyword that is 7 characters long
  2. Click the mask button
  3. Type 00S0000 in the mask
  4. Set full field entry required and store mask characters
  5. Put a / or a - in the block below the S
If you want to make it fool proof make it a Data Set keyword and use Excel to make a few years worth of month/date pairs then import that to your data set.
Without a data set, users could enter 13/2013.
Cheers,
Seth

Hi,

The way it displays (00/0000) at the bottom of the keyword in Web Client is not helpful. Is there a way to change the description of the data type of the masking keyword to mm/yyyy? Thanks in advance for your response.

Regards,
