Disk Group Storage

Is there a way to find out how much disk group storage space has been used on a daily basis?  We need to increase our storage space, however, we need to provide a good estimate on how much storage space we would need for the coming year.

Hi,

You can try the following - not sure how your diskgroups are setup:

You can open Thick Client | Admin | Platter Management | <select platter> | select a Volume and Right Mouse click | Compute Volume Size. Do this for all the Volumes and add up size values. Come back in a month and repeat.

You can also go to Configuration Client | Report | Disk Groups and this will create a SYS Configuration Report that you can then access through a Document Retrieval. This will give you the same information as above in a report format. Do this once a month to see the growth.

There is also a report "Projected Disk Space Usage by Disk Group" in Report Services.

Thanks

Marek

In Configuration Client | Report | Disk Groups, Disk Groups is not an option under reports. Is the report called something different?

You could collect this information by accessing the DiskGroup store and running a Powershell script. A quick Google search provides this script that reports document space usage by date created.
