windows scan window pops up with "What do you want to scan?"

After installing a replacement scanner, when select scan/index > select
a queue , then select "scan" option, a windows fax gui pops-up naming the scanner. It asks "what
do you want to scan?", with options for color, text, grayscale, etc..

Before changing the scanner this did not occur, it simply went to the onbase/twain fax dialog.
How can I disable or suppress this? In task manager it shows a process called "Thunking WIA APIS
form 32 to 64 process" when the window pops up.. it is tied to the "Windows Image Acquisition" service, which it required for scanning to work so disabling it kills all scan functions.

Anyway, selecting any option shows a "Transferring data" window, then throws an error "scanning error, failed to read image by scanner: error code=1"... before the normal "scanning complete" gui appears. If you select "scan more pages", then the same windows scan gui appears again.

We are on Onbase 14 with windows 8.1 client stations and the scanner changed was from Fujitsu
5650c to Fujitsu 6670. This however does not seem to be an onbase or Fujitsu issue but a windows
(scan gui) issue.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help... been working on this for hours.

Brian
