what is "Keyword Group Maintenance" ?

Dear all,

I am about to create a new MIKG ( Multi Index KeywordType Group ).

When starting to create this new MIKG , I get a message "Keyword Group Maintenance 20325 /  There is some keyword group Maintenance that needs to be done. this may take a long time. Do you like to continue"

I said YES and I was able to continue immediately without any delay. But I would like to know what is "keyword group maintenance".

I have in the past changed the definition of existing KeywordGroups but as  It not possible to delete any KeywordGroup, I would be interested to understand the meaning of such message.
