We are on 17 preparing to upgrade to EP5 and migrate from Oracle 12c to 19c. Looking for input, pros and cons, good and bad experiences with migrating from any pre 19c Oracle version to 19c with OnBase EP3 (first version to support 19c) or above. Anything you can share, and I will do the same once ours is complete.

Hi Mike,
They Hyland applications include the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.dll in their distributions. Accessing the Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.dll in the Hyland folders means that the .dll can't find the TNSNAMES.ORA file in that directory, and it doesn't know about any client drivers that are installed.
To get around this issue, I set a global environment variable on the server(s) to point to the location of the TNSNAMES.ORA file, SQLNET.ORA file and LDAP.ORA file.
eg:
TNS_ADMIN=C:\Oracle\19c_32bit\network\admin
Please note, this global environment variable will impact all applications that use Oracle.ManagedDataAccess.
My servers are OnBase only so that works fine.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Steve Williams

Hi,
To follow up with myself, the response I got from Hyland is:
We looked into the bug as submitted to oracle and found that it and two others are marked as a duplicate of a different bug (# 31608753). None of the three duplicates are marked as completed, and we can find no additional info on the oracle site about bug # 31608753, so we are not able to confirm that anything about the bug in Oracle associated with the technical bulletin is resolved.
When I look at the inventory.xml file in 19c patch level 11, I can see that a fix for the bug is included in this patch level:
<bug number="31608753" description="ODBC API SQLCOLUMNS RETURNS INCORRECT DATATYPES FOR TABLE COLUMNS"/>
I hope this helps someone out because it's cost me a lot of time troubleshooting.
Thanks,
Steve W.

Is it possible to get an official response from Hyland about the bug?
Can we say the technical issue mentioned in "Bulletins_OTN_202008_CONFIG_1407" is now resolved?

Hello,
The issues described in "Bulletins_OTN_202008_CONFIG_1407" are now resolved by using Oracle 19c drivers 19.11.0.0.210420 or greater. At the time of this writing, the current release version is 19.12.
Thank you,
