How does OnBase compare to a PDM?

Not applicable

I get asked this question quite a lot, and my response is always "OnBase provides all of the same functionality as a PDM", It is simply a matter of apples for apples.

When I was looking for information regarding PDM's I came across the following statement on Wikipedia and thought "we do all of this"...

"Product data management (PDM) serves as a central knowledge repository for process and product history, and promotes integration and data exchange among all business users who interact with products — including project managers, engineers, sales people, buyers, and quality assurance teams."

If you break down the functionality of PDM you will find that it has 4 major parts:

  • Access Control
  • Process Management & Workflow
  • Engineering Change Management
  • Collaboration

All of which OnBase provides. You can clearly match OnBase functionality with each of the items above to craft a solution that will meet and exceed the uers expectations.
