Parameter Wildcards in Reporting Dashboards - EP3 (inconsistent)

Looking in the MRG, I couldn't even find mention of the wildcards that are used in reporting dashboards.  Please acquaint me with the correct page(s) if I missed it.

I discovered thru trial and error, that when it comes to Reporting Dashboards parameters, the asterisk (aka splat) is not the wildcard.

The wildcard is instead the tradional sql wildcard - e.g. the percent sign.

I wouldn't mind, except that the asterisk is used as the wildcard in retrieval and cusom queries and consistency is important.

Is there a way to change this via a setting, did you all miss this or is this intentional?

Note: as an IT type, I can understand this.  However, I dread having to explain this to my customers....

Hi @Tom,

If you are using the Custom SQL Query Data Provider Type to build your Reporting Dashboard reports, then standard SQL syntax is used.  Therefore, it is expected that the percent sign is used as a wildcard character.

Thanks,

Thanks Alan.  That makes sense.   Does it say that anywhere in the mrg?
