What does WHERE aq.status=8 mean? Just Committed batches?

You are correct in stating the value of 8 means Committed Batches.  You can get a listing of other status values in the OnBase Database Reporting Guide (Appendix A).

Please include the rest of the query. "aq" is an alias and doesn't tell anyone the table to which you are referring.

For example; we know that in the itemdata table, "status = 16" refers to deleted documents.

Good catch, I "assumed" aq is an alias for archivedqueue, but you never know!
