We backup our volumes using a service and the -AWCENTERA switch.
Here is our scenario, we have day to day operational files being processed to disk groups and we also have a back file conversion running that is written to other disk groups. We are finding that the backups of our day to day operational disk groups are being delayed because the back file disk groups are being backed up. Is there a way to prioritize which disk groups should be backed up first?

Hi John,
I've created SCR 209382 which requests the ability to prioritize Platter Managements jobs such as Analysis, backups, ect.
Thanks,
Sean

Hi Shane,
Thanks for your post.
Unfortunately there is not way to prioritize volumes on the backup queue. The process is going to work sequentially looking for the first volume which needs to be backed up and then working through the volume prior to working on the next one.
It is possible to run multiple clients with the -AWCENTERA switch in order to process more than a single volume at a time and work through the backlog of volumes to be backed up.
Take care.

Are there any SCR's open for functionality like this? It would be nice to be able to prioritize all aspects of platter management (analysis, encryption, backup, etc.) in some way, instead of just going by disk group number low to high and volume number low to high.
