Platter no longer exists (server gone). How to recreate on different server using files from copy 2.

If all volumes of copy 1 are completely gone (server no longer exists) for a document type, what are the steps to recreate the volumes on a different server? (Copy 2 is still intact.) OnBase 15.

Hi Deborah,

If you no longer have Copy1 for a Disk Group, to recreate it would simply be the following steps:

  • Stand up a new host location (a share on a new server)
  • Copy all of the files from Copy2 to Copy1
  • Update the OnBase.ID file to represent Copy1 instead of Copy2
  • Update the platter paths in the database (this can be done through your first line of support)
  • Run Analyze on the platter to make sure all of the files are available

There are more steps involved if Copy1 was deleted from the software which would require the engagement of your first line of support.

Take care.
