Database Server Performance & Unity Client Issues

Hi there,

Since we begun out OnBase production environment at version 17 SP2 we facing a lot of problems related to unity client performance: slowness, hanging , crashing and freezing ! although we are small org (3 live process, around less than 20 users and average 100 transaction per day) we tried to monitor the DB performance and we got a horrible indications as in this image:

the SB server CPU most of the time like this, busy and when utilized above 50 % the unity client freeze with end users, this happened especially when open personal pages (contains custom query with multi conditions) or execute workflow ad-hocs!

We did increasing in the RAM and processor and shrink the DB log file many times, but nothing change in the performance!

What's the solution here?

You need to contact your first line of support for a proper investigation of your installation and settings.

I agree with Eric, but you could try updating your Statistics and Indexes as well - it's going to be one of the first things your first line of support suggests you do.

If your Stats/Indexes on the OnBase tables are out of date, every query being executed will be performing a full scan against the Database Tables, which could lead to the type of issues you are seeing. We recommend you update all Indexes, with 100% sampling rate.

You can find more recommended Database settings by downloading our Database Reference Guide here.

Hello,

You should definitely contact support. I'd add that while there is no time associated with the graph you've posted, The graph isn't necessarily bad. We would not want to see 100% utilization sustained and it does not appear to be the case. Performance problems are rarely caused by a single metric. How many CPU's are you running and are you seeing CPU queuing? Is parallelism disabled (MAXDOP)? Are timeouts set properly? Is windows authentication set correctly? Are indexes current? There are a number of things that can all impact performance. Support can help sort through your situation.
