Can a workflow be executed on a document type that is not assigned?

Short, difficult-to-articulate question:

If "Lifecycle A" sends "Super Doc Type" to "Lifecycle B", and "Lifecycle B" isn't assigned to "Super Doc Type", will "Super Doc Type" enter "Lifecycle 2"?

Thanks so much!

Hello Peter,

Thank you for posting to Community.

It is possible to add a document to a Life Cycle without the Document Type being assigned to that Life Cycle.

Example: 'Document A' currently resides in 'Life Cycle 1' because 'Document A' belongs to a Document Type that is assigned to 'Life Cycle 1'. If I have an action configured to 'Add Item to Other Life Cycle' (followed by an action to 'Remove Item from Current Life Cycle' so the document is not left in the previous Life Cycle), the document can be added to 'Life Cycle 2' even if the 'Document Type' tha 'Document A' belongs to is not assigned to 'Life Cycle 2'.

Thanks.
