We have setup a scan queue using the Scan Queue sort feature. We bring the documents in as a generic doc type, and then send them to Sorting based on a barcoded coversheet that indicates the doc type.
When we scan 2 of the same doc type coversheets in one batch, the documents are appended in one batch.
Is there a way to create a unique batch on each coversheet rather than appending?

Is the sorting queue configured to group the documents into batches by keyword values? If so, I assume these two documents are ending up with the same values (even if that means the values are blank on both documents).
Since it sounds like you want the batches to be broken into smaller batches with only one document per batch, you could use the 'Image Processing' queue instead of the scan queue sorting queue. In the image processing queue, there is an option called "Batch Splitter" where you could set it to split the batches into only 1 document per batch.

We are not reading any keyword values, our barcode process is only setup to recognize the doc type only.
When we tried to configure the Image Processing and selected Batch Splitter by keyword and chose a keyword (that isn't being captured), all the barcode pages were ignored and all the documents were put into one batch.

Instead of using the batch splitter by keyword, have it split on document count = 1. This way you'll end up with only one document per batch.
