Front Office Scanning MFC Application has stopped working

We are getting this message with Front Office Scanning, when importing PDF files.  Importing TIF files does not produce this error.  The PDF File will be imported fine, but getting this error every time.  We are on OnBase EP3, integrated with Epic Feb 2021.  Has anyone else encountered this issue?  Thank you.

I opened a case with FLOS.  Of the two recommendations, the first one resolved our issue.  The second one did not.  However this may cause issues with other 3rd party applications integrated with Epic.  We are in the process of testing other applications.

 

Application: Adobe application | Edit | Preferences | Security (enhanced)| Enable protected mode at startup.
or 
Adjust the registry setting found in HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Policies\Adobe\(product name)\(version)\FeatureLockdown\bDissallowDLLUnload to 0
It is recommended to test any registry changes, as Epic recommends this setting to be at 1 to address slowness issues in a different application.
