Can you call a Web Service from within Automated Indexing?

I have a scenario where a customer runs a multi-currency accounting facility and has a requirement to perform live curency conversions as part of their invoice processing scenario.

Are there any "hooks" to call SOAP-base web services from with the AI process?

It is possible to call a web service within automated index processing using a VB script tied to either specific field(s) or on the document as a whole - the service can be called using the MSXML COM objects that Microsoft provides on the client side, and the DOM can be used to create the request and to parse the response.
