We have seen an anomaly twice where our Epic users scanning via Epic Integrated FOS in our VMWare VDI environment will start seeing the blank back pages appear in FOS, and be forced to manually delete the blank pages before uploading their documents. Our EPICFOSCONFIG.XML file remains unchanged in regard to image settings:
Duplex="true" pixeltype="RGB" Bitdepth="8" Xresolution="300" Yresolution="300" Blankthreshold="2000"
Then after 2-3 weeks, the problem went away, again with no changes to the FOS configuration.
The smoking gun here is that our Desktop Engineering team updated the Production VDI Template (Windows O/S patches, various and sundry other upgrades and items, etc...), and we started seeing blank pages in FOS. The VDI Template was then rolled back to the previous version due to other issues, and suddenly the FOS blank pages disappeared.... hence the smoking gun theory.
We think that there may be a scanner driver update or some other core image update that is the root cause of our blank pages. We use mostly Fujitsu fi-7160 desktop scanners with FOS in a VMWare VDI environment. Our Desktop Engineering team has been unable to "diff" any changes between the old & new VDI templates.
My question to the Community is to ask if anyone else has seen this behavior in Epic-integrated FOS in a VDI environment, and if so, did you isolate root cause to scanner drivers (and what driver versions worked vs broke), or was something else found? Hyland Tech Support has indicated that they have some tickets in this regard, but nothing specific.
