Attention customers updating to Hyperdrive and using OnBase Patient Window

It has come to Hyland’s attention that with an Epic upgrade to Hyperdrive, the iFrame used for embedded launch types in which OPW is viewed, is now subject to tighter security standards.  This means that the iFrame can no longer access a secondary external application, like a PDF viewer plugin.  Subsequently, PDFs are no longer viewable in OPW, while using an embedded launch type.  There are two options for continuing to view PDFs in OPW in Hyperdrive:

  • A change in code for OPW has been made to force PDF’s to convert to an image, which solves this issue for PDFs in OPW, moving forward.  To adopt this fix you must update OPW to EP5 (build 21.1.28.1000 or newer.)  You will need to request the build from our Global Support Team or through your implementation team.
  • If you cannot update to an OPW build with the fix, you can switch to an external launch type in Epic, which will launch OPW in a separate browser window, but not limit its ability to open a secondary application, like the PDF viewer plugin. This can be accomplished through changing the Launch Type to 7 in your PACS FDI record in Epic. Please reach out to your Epic representative if you need assistance making this change.

We will keep you up to date on any additional future changes around PDFs and OPW.

For any questions or concerns please contact our Global Support Team.
