Update

A Technical Bulletin has been posted for this issue. Please reference the bulletin for this issue going forward.

Original Post

An issue was recently reported where, in some OnBase environments integrating with Hyperdrive, high CPU usage may occur on VM hosts and/or client workstations where the Healthcare Web Viewer COM Integration for Epic is used.

Additional Context:

  • While the high CPU usage has only been reported when integrating with Hyperdrive, it's possible for the behavior to occur with Hyperspace Classic as well.
  • The following build ranges of OnBase are impacted:
    • 21.1.38.1000 through 21.1.45.1000
    • 22.1.13.1000 through 22.1.24.1000
    • 23.1.1.1000 through 23.1.4.1000
  • The issue does not occur for all customers and cannot be replicated on demand.
    • However, if higher than expected CPU usage is consistently occurring on virtual machine hosts or workstations where the Healthcare Web Viewer COM Integration for Epic is installed and used, it is recommended to upgrade to a fixed build of OnBase to resolve the issue.
  • This issue is specific to client-side CPU usage - if you're experiencing high CPU usage on your Web/App servers, this issue is unrelated.

For Epic-hosted customers:

Epic may reach out to you advising that they're seeing high CPU usage on their Citrix servers and may request an upgrade to a fixed build in order to resolve the issue. As always, the client-side components (i.e., what's installed in Citrix or user workstations) must be on the same build/version as the OnBase Web/App server for the Epic integration.

Fixed builds:

  • OnBase EP5/21.1:
    • 21.1.47.1000*
  • OnBase 22.1:
    • 22.1.25.1000
  • OnBase 23.1:
    • 23.1.5.1000

*OnBase EP5/21.1 is no longer available through the OnBase Software Downloads page. Please reach out to your first line of support to request the required files. The following would be required:

  • Application Server (64 or 32-bit, depending on what you prefer/already have installed)
  • Web Server
  • Integration for Epic installer
  • Hyland.Oem.Epic.dll for your Application Server bin directory
