What is needed (mainly from a license standpoint) to view CAD drawings?

Hi Richard,
You will need the following:
CAD Services - This enables the database for compound document support for CAD documents. Put simply, it turns on functionality that enables OnBase to maintain the Parent/Child relationships (or XRefs) within the drawing(s) when they are imported. It also provides the CAD integration interfaces, otherwise known as the add-in menus (OnBase tab) for supported CAD software.
For Viewing within the OnBase, it depends which client you are using:
If you are using the Unity Client, AutoVue is the only viewer that is supported. This license only comes in a Named type, meaning that every user must have their own license to use it. This Viewer supports a full complement of file types including 2D and 3D CAD.
If you are using the Thick Client, Spicer is supported. This license comes in Concurrent and Named with options for View Only and View/Markup. This viewer supports 2D viewing.
If you are using the Web Client, Spicer is supported. This license comes in Concurrent and Named with options for View Only and View/Markup. This viewer supports 2D viewing.
There is limited support for AutoVue in the Web Client, and the go forward is to support AutoVue across all OnBase Client types.

Hi Rich,
According to our CAD MRG you will need the following:
Your OnBase solution must be licensed for CAD Services.
Additionally, one of the following workstation/concurrent licenses is required for each workstation that will be viewing and/or marking up CAD documents.
To view /markup CAD documents in the OnBase Client module:
•CAD Services Concurrent Client - View/Markup
•CAD Services Concurrent Client - View Only
•CAD Services Workstation Client - View/Markup
•CAD Services Workstation Client - View Only
To view/markup CAD documents in the OnBase Web Client or Desktop:
•CAD Services Concurrent Client - View/Markup
•CAD Services Concurrent Client - View Only
To use the CAD Services integration with a third-party CAD software program (e.g., AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.), a Concurrent Client license is required.
