ESRI Server and Data Jurisdiction

Hello, i would like to get a better understanding of the ESRI product and the differences between ESRI Online and ESRI server.

The customer has a requirement that no GeoData leave the jurisdiction of the country that the solution is deployed in, specifically that no data is transmitted/stored to a cloud provider.

What are the capabilities of the on-premise ESRI server and what limitations and/or functionalities are not available with an on-premise configuration?

Any clarification would be most appreciated.

Hi Troy,

Are you speaking in regards to Esri only functionality? If so, your best bet would be to take a look at the Esri website. In terms of on-premise solutions, Esri offers their more traditional server-based set up, but also offers Portal for ArcGIS which is basically an on-premise version of ArcGIS Online.

In terms of the way that OnBase can integrate with Esri, all of that functionality is supported in fully on-premise setups.

The only caveat to mention would be if OnBase users wanted to take advantage of Geolocation using Esri's default World Geocoder, which is hosted remotely. This would require OnBase data that could be spatially-related, e.g. an address, to be sent to an Esri hosted geocoder to be converted into coordinates. However, if the organization your working with has on-premise custom geocoders, those could be used in lieu of the default World Geocoder hosted by Esri.

Let me know if you had any other questions.

Thanks!
