How does OnBase get Workstation Name of Users logged into OnBase?

We are seeing OnBase users Workstation Names that are different than our DNS is showing for same user.

I need to explain to our Network team how OnBase is determining "Workstation Name".....

Can you provide an example of a displayed Workstation Name vs. the Actual Workstation Name configured on the machine?

Also is this a thick client or web client user?

I do know that OnBase shows dashes as lowercase m's when displaying the workstation names.

Currently for my logged in OnBase Thick Client session on our system, it shows a Workstation Name of 'Wm1076' when my actual workstation name according to Windows is 'W-1076'.

If they're TOTALLY different, then there's probably something else going on, and we have seen this sometimes when some Virtual Technology is being used such as running Parallels on a Mac and having OnBase running there....the Mac machine ID would NOT be shown in the Currently Logged In Users list.
