PDF showing checkmark as number '4'

We have recently upgraded to EP3 from v.17 and after the upgrade we have noticed that any of our PDFs that have checkboxes with checkmarks on them now have a number '4' instead of the checkmark.  If I browse to the PDF on our server, the checkmarks are on the PDF.

This is happening on both OnBase Client and Unity Client.

Any idea what I need to look into?

I am having this same issue in Perceptive Content, but only when I put the PDF through the conversion to TIFF process first.  I haven't tried it in OnBase yet.  I am going to do some additional testing.

Please let me know if you are able to determine the root cause as I am also having the same issue while converting the PDF to TIF through sweep directory method. Is it because of any missing font on virtual printer set up?

My apologies for not seeing your message sooner.  Yes, it is necessary to have the fonts used in the PDF installed on the machine doing the conversion to TIFF to avoid unwanted characters.
