Is Outlook Integration license per seat or concurrent?

Thank you,

Hey Eyob,

Thanks for using the community forums. I know that the OBA (Office Business Application) licenses come in 2 different variations which includes Workstation based or Concurrent.

I am unsure however if the Outlook Integration licensing structure is the same, hopefully someone else will chime in.

You'd probably want the concurrent licenses. The workstation ones do not work on virtual machines.

Eyob,

The Outlook Integration does not deal with user licenses, per se; it's a Server license, meaning it's purchased once and enables OnBase functionality for your OnBase system.

By licensing the Outlook Integration, you are simply offering your users another means to access OnBase content.  In essence, you are telling OnBase to accept requests from users via their Outlook application.

Now, WHEN your users access OnBase content, they will consume one of your existing Named or Concurrent User licenses, just as if they were using any other OnBase client.

As a real-world example, if you wanted to simply offer the Outlook Integration to your existing user base, you would simply license the correct version of Outlook Integration (based on what version of Outlook you are using).

If you wanted to offer Outlook Integration AND allow additional users to access OnBase, you would purchase the correct version of Outlook Integration and purchase the appropriate number of Named or Concurrent licenses for those new users.

ONE NOTE: If you have multiple versions of Outlook in place (e.g., Outlook 2007 + Outlook 2010), you would have to license both versions of the integration.  This is because our integration is version specific and tightly integrated with the capabilities of the different versions of Outlook.

Hope this helps!

Jim,

Thank you for your explanation. We have one Outlook Integration 2010 license. Does this mean we can install it on 50 of our users and still use Outlook to index documents into OnBase?

Thanks
