I am working on upgrading my test environment to 23.1.8. I am working with new VMs with Server 2022 installed and updated. This is a fresh install, not in-place upgrade. I am having an issue with Diagnostics Console. It won't start unless it is running compatibility mode for Windows Vista (Service Pack 2). The Diagnostics Service starts fine. There are two errors in the Application Event Log. One that references .Net Framework 4.0. I have .Net Framework 4.8.1 installed. I tried installing .Net Framework 4.0, but since 4.8 is included in the OS, it won't install. Says a newer version already exists. The other references kernelbase.dll. The full text of the errors are at the end of the post.
I think something is going wrong during the install because I'm also not getting the Hyland icon. It's the generic application icon. I verified the msi was unblocked. I'm a local administrator on the server. I guess I can leave it running in compatibility mode, but it seems wonky to have to do that with new software.
I'm also working with my FLOS, but I thought I might put this out there in case anyone has run into this.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Kris

I've encountered something similar on my 2022 servers and a right-click -> Run as administrator does the trick every time. Oddly, they seem to not need it after the first launch.

Thanks for the tip! That also worked!

Did you get an answer to the icon issue? Obviously not a showstopper but it would be nice.
05-01-2024 02:15 PM
Nope. My FLOS didn't have an answer. Crickets from Hyland. I'm just living without an icon. There were so many issues with the install, I spent my time on other issues. I just downloaded 23.1.9. I'll try that and see if it is any better.
