Oracle recently announced changes to its Oracle Java SE support policy. We want to explain how these changes may impact your OnBase Unity Integration Toolkit module and to offer our support throughout this transition.
Some OnBase Unity Integration Toolkit customers use a Hyland-provided Java library to integrate OnBase with their own applications and services. In the past, Oracle provided the Oracle Java SE tools for commercial use at no cost. Beginning January 2019, Oracle will require a paid commercial license for commercial use of Oracle Java SE and will no longer provide public updates.
Here is how to determine if Oracle’s changes will impact your OnBase solution, and, if you are affected, how we can help.
Identifying your solution
Most OnBase Unity Integration Toolkit customers use the .NET library and are therefore unaffected by this change. If you need assistance determining if your product is impacted, please contact the Hyland API Technical Support team.
Hyland recommendations and assistance
For affected customers, we recommend taking one of the following actions, and reaching out to the Hyland API Technical Support team to discuss your current deployment and the impact of this change.
Please note that Oracle’s changes may affect other software products in use at your organization. As you make decisions about your Java implementation and associated cost, it is important to maintain a holistic view of the impact to the full enterprise.
