patch code pages not separting docs

We are trying to upgrade to new scan PC's with Windows 7 (64
bit) and USB scanning, previously we had XP and PC's had Kofax SCSI cards, SCSI
cards do not fit in smaller slim line PC's or I would install them in the new
PC's. Installed VRS that came with SCSI cards and scanning to existing Canon
7580 scanners, documents scan well with additional memory 4 GB but when
configuring scan queue, set document format to 20 pages ( varied length docs),
delete blank pages at 5k threshold, scan queue set to separate on patch code
pages (works on old pc's and XP). Now the problem is after completing scanning
the batch each "document" is 11-12 pages long ( I figure it is
counting the blank pages as a page and most of the time deleting them and
creating 20 page documents), but patch code pages are interspersed throughout
documents, so patch code pages are not separating documents. My experience
working with scanners and OnBase for last five years, fairly knowledgeable.

This is a late reply, but perhaps it can also help someone else.  It's important when using patch code separation (or blank page or bar code separation) to scan the batch using the Document Format as One Document for the whole batch.  This allows OnBase to do the separation.  Page count settings should only be used when scanning a batch of documents that are all the same number of pages.  It's also important when setting up new scan stations and using blank page deletion to scan some sample blank pages as well as some pages that are close to blank, but that are to be kept.  Then look at the page file size and make sure that the blank page threshold is set appropriately so that only blank pages are deleted.  Remember, blank page size will be very dependent on the scanning resolution or DPI.
