Capture Profiles

Does anyone know if capture profiles can be stored on the server instead of just the PC?  My institution uses Active Directory which requires every user to sign in to use the PC.  Because of this we have to create the capture profile for every user who does scanning.  Is there a better way of doing this?

Thanks!

We store our capture profiles on the server and only issue would be network speed.

Do you have any documentation on how to do this?

Thanks!

Sorry, just saw this.

We created an inowsystem.ini file that has the path where you want the profiles stored.

Syntax in ini file(left out work path as is outside of server since included screen shots):

[Paths]
WorkPath=\\server name\shared\IMGN-Profiles\EP2UserProfiles\%USERNAME%

This file is the copied to the install folder on the computer.

C:\Program Files (x86)\ImageNow

When you launch successfully after changing, click on Help -> About and new path should be populated next to Work Path

***Note:

The %USERNAME% will create a unique subfolder for each user.  If you have multiple people logging onto the same computer, you can then copy the inscan.xml and indevice.xml into each person's subfolder.

OR...

Can also, drop that completely and then all should use the same inscan.xml and indevice.xml.  Cannot verify that as we have a separate folder for each user as this is also where user settings (Settings -> Options) are stored.  If users have different options here, you would want to keep separate.

***Additional Note - If you decide to redirect profiles, ALL users that are pointed to the new path will need Modify folder permissions since this is where settings and logs are written.  This is something that has bitten us in the butt once or twice as folder permissions are granted specifically on this folder and not inherited down.
