Document Composition with 64bit office

Good morning, we are starting to use document composition in Onbase 16, however we are running Microsoft Office 64 bit. I know that there are some issues with the template builder in MS Office 64 bit. If a user creating one off letters from either a unity form using doc. comp., and they are running 64 bit, will they encounter any issues? Or are the known issues with 64 bit mainly focused on the creation of the template used to generate the documents?

Also, using an XML(API)/SQL call, can doc. comp generate documents in batch (read multiple documents) based on the input?

Hi Sander,

Document Composition Template Builder is not supported with 64-bit Office 2013 or 2016. Below is the Microsoft recommendation for 32-bit vs 64-bit Office installations. The main issue with Document Composition in a 64-bit Office environment is the Composition Preview will not function because our viewer is a 32-bit only control. There are other 64-bit limitations as well within the Unity Client.

In regards to batch document creation, Document Composition does not support batch creation of documents at this time. As a workaround, you would need to preprocess or parse the XML to make API calls to Document Composition for each document that needs to be generated.

Are there any plans to make a 64-bit version of the template builder in OnBase 17?

There are not any plans to make a 64-bit version of the Document Composition Template Builder available in OnBase 17. SCR 268329 exists for this functionality and I recommend contacting your first line of support to get your organization attached.
