manage document on a server different from Alfresco server

Hi to all,
I need to install Alfresco on a server and the documents that Alfresco must manage on another server.
It's possible to configure alfresco to work in this way?

Can you clarify a bit more?

If you just want to use drive of another machne to store document content, you can map (or mount) this drive on Alfresco server, and change dir.root to point ot some folder on this drive

If you want a SIFs folder, that represent Alfresco repository, to appear on another machine, you may need to do some Windows / Samba mapping.
