Organizations rely on Workday to manage HR and finance processes, but the documents that complete those processes often are stored in one or more locations. Employee records, supplier documentation, contracts, invoices, and compliance-related content frequently live in separate repositories or file shares, creating extra steps for users and limiting access to high-value information.
The latest release of Hyland for Workday addresses that challenge by extending support to content stored in Hyland OnBase through Hyland Content Federation Service (CFS). This new capability allows organizations to leverage their existing OnBase investments while providing users with a unified content experience directly within Workday.
Bring OnBase Content Directly into Workday
With the August 2026 release, Hyland for Workday now supports content stored in OnBase in addition to content stored in Hyland Content Innovation Cloud. Through CFS, Workday users can securely access, view, capture, and manage content stored in OnBase without leaving the Workday environment.
This helps organizations:
By connecting Workday to OnBase through CFS, users have in-context access to the information they need to do their jobs without having to migrate the content containing that information.
Simplified Administration for a Growing Content Ecosystem
As organizations continue to expand their content use cases, administration and configuration become vitally important. The August release also introduces a new Configure Content Platforms page that gives administrators a centralized location to manage Content Federation Service connections.
Configure Content Platforms - Admin Screen
This experience provides a scalable foundation for managing federated repositories, while simplifying administration and supporting future repository integrations as content management environments evolve.
Administrators can also configure multiple repository sources for retrieval and import experiences, allowing different business processes to access the content sources most relevant to their needs. This flexibility helps organizations deliver tailored content experiences without costly custom development.
Building on a Strong Year of Workday Innovation
The August release continues a series of enhancements to make information more accessible and valuable within either Workday Finance or HCM.
In May 2026, Hyland for Workday introduced support for secondary search fields, enabling users to locate documents using identifiers such as Employee ID and Supplier ID instead of relying solely on Business Object ID. This enhancement improves search efficiency, reduces manual effort, and helps users find information faster across HR and finance workflows.
In July 2026, Hyland expanded Hyland for Workday availability to EU-hosted environments. This enhancement helps organizations address EU data residency requirements while maintaining feature parity with other supported regions.
Together, these updates show Hyland's continued focus on making enterprise content easier to access, manage, and govern within the systems employees use every day.
Extending the Value of Workday and OnBase
For organizations that have standardized on Workday while continuing to rely on OnBase for document management, governance, and retention, the new CFS integration delivers the best of both worlds. Users gain immediate access to content in the context of the Workday business processes they support, while organizations can easily maintain their existing repository, governance model, and content investments.
