One of the biggest challenges organizations face as they move to SAP S/4HANA is maintaining seamless access to critical business documents, all without disrupting operations or forcing costly migrations.

That’s why the latest release of Hyland for SAP S/4HANA introduces a major new capability: Support for OnBase via Hyland Content Federation Service (CFS).

Extending SAP document management beyond Hyland’s cloud content repository

Hyland for SAP S/4HANA already delivers a modern, Fiori-native integration with the Hyland Content Innovation Cloud and its supporting cloud content repository. Now, with Content Federation Service, that same experience extends to existing OnBase repositories.

This release:

  • Expands document access across Hyland repositories (Hyland CIC’s cloud content repository or OnBase)
  • Brings full document lifecycle management into SAP
  • Maintains governance in the Hyland system of record

The result is a more flexible, enterprise-ready approach to content management that is all capable without forcing organizations to migrate content upfront.

With OnBase integration via CFS, SAP users can now:

  • Upload and attach OnBase documents to SAP business objects
  • View documents in context without leaving SAP Fiori
  • Document lifecycle actions (add, delete, associate)
  • Work consistently across both cloud and on-prem/hybrid repositories

All of this happens directly inside the SAP experience, reducing friction and improving productivity across finance, procurement, and shared services.

A seamless, in-context document experience

This release delivers true, in-context document management across systems. Instead of switching between systems or relying on outdated integrations, users can:

  • Access all relevant documents tied to a transaction
  • Interact with them instantly
  • Stay focused on the task at hand

This eliminates process fragmentation and supports faster, more informed decision-making.

Built for real-world SAP transformation strategies

This release supports hybrid and phased approaches to S/4HANA transformation by:

  • Allowing content to remain in OnBase while adopting SAP S/4HANA
  • Eliminating dependency on legacy ArchiveLink approaches
  • Supporting both OnBase and Hyland Content Innovation Cloud, simultaneously
  • Reducing migration risk and project complexity

In short, it gives organizations the flexibility to modernize on their terms.

A foundation for AI-driven content services

By unifying access to content across repositories, organizations gain a stronger foundation for:

  • Intelligent Document Processing (IDP)
  • Knowledge Discovery and content intelligence
  • Automation across invoices, contracts, and operational documents

Because content is accessible, structured, and governed, regardless of where it resides, teams can apply AI-driven capabilities consistently across the enterprise.

The clock is ticking for SAP ECC customers

With SAP ECC (Enterprise Central Component) support ending in 2027, organizations are under pressure to migrate to S/4HANA while maintaining continuity in document-heavy processes.

This release helps solve that challenge by:

  • Preserving access to existing OnBase content
  • Modernizing the SAP user experience with Fiori-native integration
  • Reducing disruption during migration
  • Enabling a future-ready content strategy

Hyland for SAP S/4HANA with OnBase integration via Hyland CFS delivers a unified, flexible approach to enterprise content, directly inside SAP.

Organizations can:

  • Extend the value of their OnBase investment
  • Avoid unnecessary content migration
  • Deliver a seamless user experience in SAP Fiori
  • Build a scalable foundation for automation and AI

All while keeping content secure, governed, and exactly where it belongs.
