Hi,

If I want to use a presentation template on a space I believe that the user must have access rights to the Data Dictionary, which means that when this user goes to Company Home, he will also see this Data Dictionary.

I believe for many end-users this is very confusing. They expect spaces and content relevant to their work, not spaces about the Alfresco Administration.

Is there a way to make the data dictionary invisible for the end-user, without losing the possible to use presentation templates ?

Thanks

We do get this question over and over again. Any idea how to solve this ?

Jan,

Not completely sure about this but I imagine you could close the Data Dictionary for all the users but make sure the spaces below the Data Dictionary are readable for your users. If you link directly to this template it should work.

This could mean however that the user can't select a template in dropdown boxes throughout the system so I suppose it's not the perfect solution.

Simon,

Great tip ! I made data dictionary invisible for every_one group and put new access rights on the underlying spaces (RSS, mail templates scrips…)

This way data dictionary is invisible from the home root, but templates can still be used by members.

I believe this should be part of a standard configuration so end users (if not needed) are not confronted with the data dictionary anymore.
