OpenSearch in Current Alfresco Repository

Hi,
What's the usage of the Current Alfresco Repository check box in the OpenSearch panel? Does it work? Is there a way to restrict the search to a current space.

You can register multiple search engines e.g. other Alfresco repositories, scoped Alfresco searches, or even other 3rd party content stores (if they support OpenSearch).

The checkbox allows you to select which search engines to search with.

So, I suppose this checkbox is useless if I don't want to register other search engines. Right?
My first expectation was the  possibility to make a contextual search: when the user launches a search, he can choose to limit the search to the current space. Do you know a way to implement that? TIA, Gilles.
