More info about Guest users

Hi all (posting a load of questions today… but I'm new to Alfresco and I'm trying to cope the beast),

I have few questions about the Guest user:

1) Can guest access be disabled?
2) Can the Guest Home space be disabled/hidden/removed?
3) Is there an URL that forces access to the Web Client as a guest?

The behaviour regarding #3 is a bit strange…

I've noticed that the very first time that I access the http://<myserver>/alfresco URL, the web client automatically connects to the appllication as a guest user. Fine.

But as soon as I do my first login as an authenticated user and then I logout and then I type again the http://<myserver>/alfresco URL, the application this time  automatically redirects to the logon URL: http://<myserver>/alfresco/faces/jsp/login.jsp.

So, is there a way to "force" the login as guest? Ideally, the login form could have a "Guest" button to simplify this…

1) Yes, see my reply about half way down this thread:

2) If you disable the Guest user then you can remove or hide the home space. It can be restored from the Manage Delete Items page. You must restore the home space before enabling the user in the config again!

3) There are REST style URLs to retrieve content, templates, execute scripts etc. as Guest. But I don't think there's a way to force Guest if you have logged in previously - unless you clear your cookies in the browser.

Thanks,

Kevin
