We are developing a POC with 2 alfresco community 3.4 in clustered mode on Linux
We have dir.root on SAN  for example dir.root =  /test_data
We plan to have 1TB of data growth per annum.
Can we have multiple mount points in alfresco for dir.root property ?
Our storage team has suggested to add new mount points of 1TB every year instead of adding space in same mount point.
They suggest this can ease backup and restore part

Kindly suggest if this is feasible in alfresco community 3.4 ?

Short answer: AFAIK dir.root is supposed to point only to a single directory.

But wait… if you look at the directory structure beneath <dir.root>/contentstore/ , you'll notice that its path structure is like <year>/<month>/<day>/etc. Thus, if you create the folder for each year in advance and attach to one of your SANs volumes, you might end up with your desired "volume per year" solution  Smiley Happy
This adds of course a dependency to Alfrescos internal storage implementation (so in case of an product update you have to verify if this solution still works). And you have to take care to mount your volume not later than december 31.
