Hi Everyone,
Im new at alfresco and Linux, i freshly installed version 5.1 for Linux (ECM Edition). I managed to open alfresco via SSL and the GUI is also working stable. I realised some of the features does not work out of the box.
-Tags are not working
-Document Browser Preview ist not working
-Editing MS Office Files are not working
do i have to install some modules or is there still settings to change?
I stuck at this point and tried many things, but neither of the solutions were the answers.
Pls any idea?
and if you need any further information, pls tell which ones.
Thx,
Moe
Nochmal auf Deutsch:
Hi an alles Zusammen,
Moe

Last time I checked Office 2016 was not supported. I know it's being worked on, so it's possible there is initial support in recent community releases.

Ja servus - leider sind hier nur wenige deutschsprachige regelmäßig unterwegs (mit mir sind es soweit bekannt nur zwei Fragenbeantworter). Daher ist eine Frage/Antwort in Englisch immer erfolgsversprechender.
Hello - unfortunately there are very few German-speaking members on this platform on a regular basis (only two responders including myself, as far as I know). For that reason questions / answers will most likely have more impact when written in English.
Can you provide the Alfresco log file (alfresco.log) after you have tried to use either of the functionalities you mentioned as "not working"? This log file might provide sufficient information to potentially deal with at least one of the issues without us having to resort to wild guesses. I personally never use the Alfresco-provided installers so am not familiar with any current or potential issues that might relate to the setup procedure and restrict these core functionalities.
You are quite right to assume that the installer should provide all the components necessary for using tags, document preview (of common file types) and edit online (using Alfresco Office Services). From feedback on the #alfresco IRC channel (on Freenode) I know that the online edit feature may have some issues with certain client / use constellations.

Can you attach (not copy&paste) the entire alfresco.log file (and similarly named files from previous days)? The output you pasted currently doesn't show anything except the automatic user synchronization that runs at midnight.

Judging from the logs you have an issue with search / SOLR in general. The backup job is also failing, but this could be related to the general issue. I have also found errors that directly link SOLR and tagging, specifically during the attempt to set / create tags on a document.
It looks like SOLR did not start up correctly at some point, causing 404 errors during search requests. After a restart it appeared to be running but an invalid SSL configuration caused the SSL handshake to fail.
For some reason your user / group synchronization runs quite frequently which should not be the case in a normal system (default run only once every night).
Regarding preview issues I can only find issues with MS Office files where the content transformer cannot extract a thumbnail from the file itself (MS Office might embed thumbnails). LibreOffice could not be started due to an invalid (or no?) path configuration in alfresco-global.properties. As a result it cannot act as a fallback when the thumbnail extraction fails.
I haven't found an indication what might be the problem regarding edit online.
To me it looks like something went wrong during installation and configuration. The incorrect path for LibreOffice should have been replaced with the real path during installation, and if you installed from the installer you should have a working SSL setup. It might be worth redoing the install and looking for any errors along the way.

Thx for a precise Reply.
Do you have any suggestion how i should install the alfresco in order to be able to work with ssl and Microsoft Online Editing. Maybe a short guide would help
Im kinda struggling with the alfresco right now. Maybe its better to install it manualy.

I always install it (semi) manually to better adapt Alfresco to specific policies / structures used by a customers IT department. Quite a few people are using the Loftux installer script.
