Can't connect to Alfresco from MS Word 2003/2007

Hello,
( I'm Japanese, so my English is not good. Sorry. )

I installed Alfresco(Labs - v3.0.0 (b 1164)) using alfresco.war. Because I had Tomcat6 and Apache2 to run  other aprications. Alfresco is working well on WEB.

Then I want to connect to Alfresco from MS Word ( with SharePointProtocol).

But I couldn't. So I installed vti-module.amp. And I also deleted the standard pre-existing ROOT folder, and deployed the ROOT.war file into Tomcat's webapps folder. Then I restart tomcat. (seeing http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_Labs_3#Installing_SharePoint_Protocol_Support )

However I can't connect to Alfresco from MS-Word.

MS-Word only opens the jsp-file as html. I tried to connect from Word2007 and 2003, but the result was same.

There are no errors in catalina.out.

Server : Fedora9 Tomcat6
Client ; Vista(SP1) Office 2007 WORD

Do I have to do anything more?
Please tell me the way to solve this problem.

thanks

Tetsuya.

Hi Tetsuya,

I've got the same problem here, but I didn't install the sharepoint support protocol as long as I installed the automatic executable install which has the support integrated.
I'm under a linux debian Lennny server.

As long as I try in word 2008 to create a workspace, it says that it couldn't terminate the action and that I should ask my administrator. I get no logs in alfresco.
It seems like word is not able to get to alfresco, I see no connection there.
I put "http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/alfresco" in the shared workplace URL.

Working on it…

Hello, elalitte

Thank you for replying to my message.

I put "http://XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/alfresco" in the shared workplace URL.

So… Not my configuration, but MS-WORD or Alfresco is wrong, isn't it?
Because some of the very important applications are running on Tomcat, I can't test the automatic executable install.

However there are a couple of posts which say that they could connect to Alfresco from MS-WORD.
My MS-WORD's error dialog says " Can't connect to 'http://192.168.1.9:8080/alfresco'. Check the spell and try again." in Japanese.
I tried from other PCs (WinXPpro IE7 Word2003 and WinXPhome IE6 Word2000), but I couldn't.

Does Alfresco have something wrong? Is this caused by my configuration or my enviroment?  Or is this a bug of Alfresco?

Are there someone else who has ideas? I would be happy if you told the ideas.

Thanks

Tetsuya

Hello,

I had believe that any informations were not helpful, but this is my catalina.out ( Japanese messages are translated into English)

I think this might be the error.
I tried to reinstall the sharepoint plugin but got no luck and still have the same problem.

Ok, I found part of the problem.
I reinstalled the vti module in alfresco.war and deleted the ROOT directory in tomcat/webapps, but I didn't remove the alfresco one.
Now I get :
18:41:04,350 INFO  [org.alfresco.repo.module.ModuleServiceImpl] Found 1 module(s).
18:41:04,998 INFO  [org.alfresco.repo.module.ModuleServiceImpl] Installing module 'org.alfresco.module.vti' version 1.0.
But still can't access from word.

I think the problem is somewhere else, but not too far 😉
