Hi,
I tried to install Alfresco Community 4.0.d (alfresco-community-4.0.d-installer-win-x64.exe) on a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit OS server. The install completes without reporting errors, but the Alfresco Share login page does not load. The Alfresco Explorer loads, but it loads logged in as "guest" and clicking on any of the objects doesn't do anything. I made sure the services were running by checking in the Alfresco Manager tool and they both are running. Since the Share web page doesn't load we thought it was an IIS issue and added the IIS role to the server. The problem did not resolve itself after a uninstall or install.
Does anyone have any idea why Alfresco Share doesn't work for us?
Thanks, Mike T

Hi Jeff,
We granted Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration to the administrator permission group and now the Share UI is working. I hope this helps others that are new to Alfresco.
Two questions:
1) How do I attach the Alfresco.log file to forum messages? I don't see a button available for that.
2) How do we setup client computers to connect to the server where we installed Alfresco on?
Thanks!

When you need to attach the log, you can either place the log contents in your post and surround the log with
There should be no client setup needed if they are going to access the server via their web browser. Simply give them the URL of the Alfresco Share web application, which looks something like http://somehost.com:8080/share.
If you want them to connect within Windows Explorer to Alfresco via WebDAV, they can map a WebDAV drive to:
http://somehost.com:8080/alfresco/webdav
If you want them to connect within Windows Explorer to Alfresco via CIFS, they can map a network drive like any other windows share by connecting to:
http://somehost_A/alfresco
The hostname and several other details are configurable. Refer to the documentation for more information:

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for the fyi on attaching logs. How do I award points people that respond?
This is how I am accessing the server (aqalf1) using Internet Explorer from my computer: "http://aqalf1:8080/share/"
I get the error message:
resource (aqalf1) is online but isn't responding to connection attempts.
Is this a network/firewall configuration change on the server?
thanks, Mike T

Points are awarded by clicking on "Yes" next to "Useful?" on the right-hand side of the post, like this:

I'm not a windows guy, but, yes, this sounds like a firewall issue. Especially if you can hit http://localhost:8080/share from the local Windows server that is running Alfresco.

Thank you Jeff. That resolved the problem. Alfresco Community version 4.0.d is running fine on our server and I can connect to Share from client computers.
