Have a look at John Newton's thoughts over the closed source database support

One more question… are you planning to remove the MySQL migration scripts from the Labs version?

As far as I know, MySQL has a non-comunity version and many alfresco users could be using it… As MySQL, who has a free and an pay version, Oracle does too..

Thanks

It's not a matter of how much you pay for it: MySQL is open source, whereas Oracle is not.

Thanks,
Mike

If you say
It's not a matter of how much you pay for it: MySQL is open source, whereas Oracle is not.
i think it against what you said earlier
If you're willing to pay for a proprietary database then we believe you should be willing to pay for Alfresco too
Coz you talking about money here.

Its up to you/alfresco team, if you want to be opensource or not opensource, free or not free,  support something or not support something, but at least, in your release annoucement, or in your release plan (if possible),  you mentioned if you dont want to support specific database what ever the reason is.
By doing that users that using your product aware about that, and they can decide and plan what they have to do.

Btw, it seems that Hypersonic is no longer supported, too

Hi Mike,
Suppose I'll buy alfresco lab3 then Can I connect it with oracle 11g. Can you give support for alfresco labs3 with oracle 11g?

Depends what you mean by "support" - these forums are support for the Labs / Community versions.

Hi Mike,
I'm trying to upgrade from alfresco 2.1 ce to alfresco labs3 CE. I'm using oracle 11g as db. When I'm trying to upgrade I'm getting error. I'm unable to upgrade if I'm using Oracle as our db, however I'm able to upgrade if I'm using MySQL as my database. I tried all the information found on the net to upgrade while using Oracle as my database but nothing worked. Please suggest me some way so that I can migrate from alfresco 2.1 to alfresco labs3 using oracle as my db.
Please reply ASAP.
