Acess Documents in Explorer, from Share. Is it possible?

Hi there

We have a configuration already done in our Alfresco 3.0 under Ubuntu. We have also customized our Content Model, and adding some wizards and functionality to work with specific types of documents under Alfresco Explorer.

However now we would like to start working with Alfresco Share as for us the UI is more friendly for end users which have now "high IT level", adding some workflow configuration.

Our idea would be for users in Department A, to keep working whith these documents under the screens, rules and functionality already performed for Alfresco 3.0 Explorer…. however once they are done, we would like users in Department B to start a set of "Advanced Workflows" defined under Alfresco 3.0 Share.

Will it be possible to allow Share users to get access somehow to documents created and store in the repository of Alfresco Explorer????

Sorry if this is a silly question, however I did not find anything related to this?

Thanks a lot!!

Hi jlabuelo,

The content you have in Alfresco Explorer is perfectly visible in Alfresco Share. You can access the whole file and folder directory structure from the "Repository" link.

In recent versions of Alfresco 4.x and 5.x I think this link is only shown to the admin by default but you can change this behaviour, look here: <a href="http://docs.alfresco.com/5.0/tasks/share-repodoclib-config.html" target="_blank">How to enable Repository Link</a>

You will also have to configure specific forms for your custom models because otherwise the look and feel of the properties views for your custom content might be missing some fields:

You can start here: <a href="http://docs.alfresco.com/5.0/concepts/forms-intro.html" target="_blank">Share forms</a>

Good luck!

Thanks a lot  Igor

Our version is Alfresco 3.0. I have tried to check this with the admin user, but was not able to see the folders of the Alfresco Explorer repository. Will give it a try again and will check your links to see how to enable this to other users!.

Thanks once more!
