I'm looking for guidance on creating document links in workflow notifications which would open a specific stored Unity Form either within Onbase or from an external website.
Could this be accomplished with a workflow pop and if so, what type of licensing is required?

Part 1-
You have a number of options. You can use WorkflowPOP and FormPOP links in both formatted and text notifications.
WorkflowPOP will open either the Queue OR the Queue and the Document in a dedicated Workflow interface.
FormPOP is useful for displaying/editing just Forms
There is a rather detailed training course available at Web Server: Pop Integrations - Hyland University
For non-premium subscribers, you can do it yourself with the documentation.
Check out the Workflow MRG under the chapter titled Configuring Tokens. (part of Studio - Configuring Notifications)
Workflow pop tokens can be used in both Formatted and Text based emails.
This requires Host Name or Redirect for your Web Server. The Virtual Root is for the Web Client.
For example: If my web client is run from hyland.com/appnet then I would enter Hyland.com in Server Name and appnet in Virtual root
For the FormPOP path, you need to review the Web Server Admin MRG
There is a section titled Form POP that includes usage and configuration chapters.
Part 2 - To get the most accurate answer about licensing, I highly recommend contacting your Account Manager and/or First Line of Support to Verify your specific organizational needs.
According to the EP5 Workflow MRG ,the Web Server Admin MRG ,and the Unity Forms mrg the following are required. (I believe you are using OnBase 17 so you may need to verify the V17 Documentation ; however, it should be similar to the Legacy notes below.)
Simplified Licensing:
WF,Web = "The Essential User, Standard User, or Premier User license is required"
Unity Forms= "The Standard User or Premier User license is required."
for Legacy Licensing:
Workflow =
A Workflow license is required to configure life cycles as well as to perform Workflow activity.
Effective January 1, 2007, one of the following licenses is required:
• Workflow Concurrent Client SL
• Workflow Workstation Client SL
• Workflow Named User Client SL
Note: Each of these licenses includes the E-Forms module.
In addition to one of these licenses, a valid Client license is required
Web Server=
The Web Server requires a Web Server license and a valid Client license
Unity Forms=
A Unity Forms license is required.
Note: this is sometimes covered by the Forms License as part of Workflow (again, verify with your FLOS/AM)
FYI- how to find this info:
You can find the licensing details usually on the first page of each MRG (here is a WF Example)
