Hi,

With Share leading the show (of-course it still does not have some feature provided by explorer), are there known time frames for Explorers deprecation or End of Life.
Such info would help us plan our efforts around share extensions rather than both.

No.    Explorer is not deprecated of EOL'd.   It is still supported.

Hi Mrogers,

Could you please tell me what are the plans for the future in terms of these two applications? I read somewhere that there will be only one application, Alfresco Share, in the future. We are currently working on the development of Alfresco Explorer and would like to know if this application will not exist in the future. In that case, we would start working on the development of Alfresco Share from now. One of the things that indicates that maybe Alfresco Explorer gets deprecated is drag and drop functionality that exists in Alfresco Share, but does not exist in Alfresco Explorer. It is obviously that they less invest in Alfresco Explorer.

Thanks,
Ivana

The plan is that Share continues to be actively developed whereas Explorer is in "maintenance only mode".

However AFAIK Alfresco Explorer is not deprecated.    If and when it is deprecated then it will be EOL'd as per the usual route so it is going to be around until at least Alfresco 6

Thanks for the answer, we will start developing Alfresco Share, too.
I think that Alfresco Explorer as Document Management System looks more user friendly then Alfresco Share right now, and I  hope that Alfresco Team will think on that.

Best regards,
Ivana
