Hi Everyone
Just got a version of Alfresco up and running today. I was wondering if the following is possible
I create a new site for an R&D team. The R&D team already have a share on a windows file server called RandD. Can i use this as the document library for the system. So when the logon to alfresco share and go to the team site then document library they see what they would as if they had browsed to the network share or opened there shared drive?

Forgot to mention i'm running Alfresco comunity 3.3 on Ubuntu server

No you can't.

You need to copy in the files into Alfresco so the Alfresco server is serving up the shared drive (and managing the content) rather than say samba serving up a shared drive.  You can even call it RandD so it will look the same to your end users.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Thats answerd my question. Unfortunitly is an MS enterprise i run and i wanted to use Alfresco as an alternative to sharepoint which i'm sure does have this feature (all be it in the full blown version)
For us qwindows admings  ( it would be handy to have Alfresco link to existing shares which are no doubt already part of a windows backup strategy… just a thought
