I think all those questions are answered on our main web site: http://www.alfresco.com/products/

Thanks,

Hi guysSmiley Happy

Seems pretty clear as to how it benefits us all.  From reading the data, it sounds like it handles just about everything.

Web content management, image management etc.

Well, Alfresco adds the "smart" to the file system. Want your files to be versioned? Want metadata accessible to your searches, scripts and web services? Want email notifications and RSS updates when things change? Want business processes managed over days, weeks, even years, with persisted data?

All of these things can, of course, be done on a server installation. Linux requires choosing a file system with metadata support; NTFS requires turning it on. Then you have to write the programs. Lots and lots of programs. Integrated with the web services. Integrated with the database management systems. Integrated with the backup storage system.
