Webdav Lock Issue returned on Alfresco 3.3g

Hi All,

We seem to be experiencing webdav locking issue after switching to Alfresco 3.3G, when using webdav lock feature
using Webdrive (http://www.webdrive.com), file can no longer be unlocked and the document is now read only.

We have tested this using Linux and Windows version of Alfresco Community 3.3G.

It was working perfectly using Alfresco 3.2.

It was resolved on 3.2 by modifying LockmMethod.java. Please see similar case below:
https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ETHREEOH-1848

There seems to be changes on the new LockMethod.java and the fix won't work anymore.

Please need help on how to make a quick fix on this issue, Im pretty weak at java coding.

Thanks very much.

Hi Luis,

Thanks for the advice, I have filed a case in JIRA, hopefully it gets resolved soon.

Dear all,
as I see this bug still not fixed.

I use OpenOffice on my Mac and this bug makes webdav functionality unusable.
I do not use native MacOS X webdav support due to specific ._Filename files, which Mac OS creates io webdav volumes.

Honestly speaking opening file as webdav url in OpenOffice is more  easy and comfortable.
Is the any way to workaround this bug?

Which version on Alfresco works well with openoffice+webdav?

Thank you in advance.

I downgraded to vesion 3.3 and done some tests on Mac:

Ok - NeoOffice 3.1.1 patch 2
You can not use native openoffice "Open File …" dialog to open file via webdav. Use "Load URL" menu in toolbars.
It's easy to add by clicking "Visible Buttons" on "Standard" toolbar.

NeoOffice opens file via webdav protocol with read/write permissions.
At this moment Alfresco shows it as "Locked by you"
You can change file and save it back.

When you close file in NeoOffice "Locked" icon in Alfresco will disappear.
Seems NeoOffice works Ok.

Not Ok - OpenOfice 3.2.1 OOO320m18
You can open file via native "Open File" menu.
Ooo-dev opens file w/o "Locked by you" icon in Alfresco.
It's bad.
You can change file and save it back.
It store in Alfresco correctly.

Not Ok - Ooo-dev (development version) 3.3.0, OOO330m5 (Build:9521)
Sutiation is the same.
You can open file via native "Open File" menu.
Ooo-dev opens file w/o "Locked by you" icon in Alfresco.
It's bad.
You can change file and save it back.
It store in Alfresco correctly.

just installed alfresco on our server today…Very impressed up until we tested the webdav and it is currently failing miserably. Cannot create a new folder and rename it, it simply stays as "New Folder" unless I go in through the web interface and rename it. Has anyone figured out what we need to do to make this work? Any help would be greatly appreciated! We can't use this product until we get this figured out!

Version 3.4.a is out, can you try that one? I just did a quick test, and for MS Office it seems to work fine. Open Office is another story, and I'm not sure that it is entirely Alfresco's fault. Open office always opens webdav documents read-only, it may be the Alfresco lock issue mentioned, or just that webdav in open office is broken.

Yeah sorry, actually this is 3.4a that I'm using. We just downloaded and installed yesterday (sorry for not explaining that). The issue comes when we map a web folder as a mapped drive (using webdrive, or even from windows 7 webdav). So I don't think it's open office or anything. I go to create a folder and try to rename it from "new folder" to something else and it tells me it's being locked by another program. It then stays as "new folder" unless I actually login to the web interface and change it from there. I am connecting as admin on the webdav drive.

If you have a look at the source log for webdav, there seems to be a commit after 3.4.a (revision 22662) that applies to lock issues (but no comment in commit). So I guess you will have to wait for 3.4.b. Or you can try a nightly build http://dev.alfresco.com/downloads/nightly/dist/.

is there any chance the enterprise version would be different? I'm debating wiping the current community version install and doing the enterprise trial to see if it work correctly.
