Hello,
I planned to you use the multi-user features of MS Office XP and 2003.
So, when a document is being edited by a user, other users trying to edit the same document have the option to edit the file locally, and merge it later with the shared document.
Although this feature works fine on a simple shared directory, it doesn't function properly from an Alfresco webdav folder.
Here is the scenario (in a webdav folder) :
- user1 opens a document and edits it
- user2 opens the same document
- user2 chooses the option"Create a local copy and merge your changes later", and edits it
- user1 saves the document
- when clicking on the save button, user2 selects the option to merge its changes
- changes of user2 are correctly highlighted, but changes of user1 are lost !
- user2 cannot save the merged document (document incorrectly stays in read-only)
I did exeprience this bug with this config :
- Windows XP SP2
- Alfresco-1.4.ODF-Build54
- user1 and user2 have Office XP SP3 and Office 2003 SP2
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
Denis

Well, this is an old post.
Alfresco did solve those problems with simultaneous editing by multiple users from release 2.1.0E.
