user access for document library set via explorer

Hello All,

I have a question regarding user/group rights for Document Library folders in Share app.
Via Share GUI I can not find a way to hide some folders for some users or to add some users as Contributors (only for specific folders, not for the whole Site).
I can do this via Explorer GUI, but is it safe from the "consistency of the system data" point of view?

Thanks in advance for any info.

I hope this is "legal" as I did exactly that.
All of my users belong to one group that has "consumer" role for the document library.
Individual users have "editor" role for chosen folders.
It is "respected" by Share, as New Folder option is grayed out if they don't have permission.

It is very desired functionality from my point of view, as only selected user can create folders on root level.

Regards,
Mike

I've played around with this as well, and one important thing is: Do not give a user access to a document unless they are member of that site, or the site is public. If you do, the document will be returned in a search, but when they click on the document, Share fails to render the client GUI correctlym since they user are unauthorized to that site.

Disclaimer: I've not put any such "workarounds" in production, just checking if and how it could work to add the capability to assign user rights to individuals. I will say it needs more testing.
